Imagine a group fitness studio where your members are literally never late. Discover how Kaisa Kerwin built a thriving "relationship business" around a rolling 15-minute class model, and how she uses CloudFit to scale her floor.

Sam here, and I want you to imagine a group fitness studio where your members are literally never late.

Traffic jam on the highway? Held up late at a meeting? Delayed by family commitments? In most gym models, missing the hard start time means missing the class entirely. Your member loses their daily workout, and you lose an opportunity to connect with that client.

But at The Fit Shop in North Miami Beach, Owner and Founder Kaisa Kerwin decided to completely flip the traditional scheduling script on its head.

"Our scheduling is really cool and unique. We start classes every 15 minutes. Some days we have a kind of this model where you're never late. You just come in. We make the best out of your time. We want you to move, whether it's 20 minutes or an hour and 20 minutes, if you want to stay extra, but we just are really laid back and offer different varieties of classes every single day, seven days a week, morning night. It's really good. You're never late. Just walk in."

Think about the sheer business power of that point of difference.

By running a dynamic mix of functional strength training, boxing, kickboxing, and body sculpting layouts that allow a new group of members to drop into the training rotation every 15 minutes, The Fit Shop has completely eliminated booking anxiety.

From a revenue and capacity perspective, it maximizes the utility of the gym floor perfectly. It dramatically increases daily member throughput without overcrowding any single station, and it gives clients the ultimate modern luxury: absolute flexibility.

When Alex and I flew out to Miami to see this model in action, the energy hit us before we even stepped through the doors. The massive garage doors were wide open to the Florida air, industrial ceiling fans were pushing the heat out, the music was pumping, and the community was absolutely electric. It’s raw, it’s real, and it is incredibly welcoming.

But as any gym operator reading this knows, running a rolling, multi-station circuit where a new group drops into the rotation every 15 minutes takes a serious level of operational discipline.

Built From the Ground Up

To pull off a business model this dynamic, you need an elite standard of leadership. When you look at Kaisa’s background, the structure and discipline she brings to the floor make perfect sense. This is someone who has lived and breathed peak performance her entire life.

She started Tae Kwon Do at just four years old, earned her black belt by the time she was eight, and went on to compete in the Junior Olympics. She even spent six years working as a fully licensed commercial pilot before realizing her true calling wasn't in the cockpit—it was on the training floor, teaching and helping people.

When Kaisa shared the origin story of the gym with us, she didn't give us a polished corporate pitch. She gave us the real, unfiltered truth that so many independent gym owners can relate to.

"The Fit Shop honestly began because I really wanted to fix myself and in a dark place and just kind of lost and unhealthy, and I got my shift* together, and I really wanted to just make a change in myself. And 2008, I opened my first gym and in 2014 I built this and just started a community and just devoured it, and made my life about it, and just did everything I could to better it, and pushed and pushed, and never gave up."

That relentless drive created a space that feels more like a lively backyard gathering than a rigid facility. The coaches are instantly welcoming, and the room is highly collaborative. When you spend five minutes on the training floor, you realize this isn't just a workout. It’s a culture built entirely on human connection.

As Kaisa beautifully puts it:

"I always tell people that it's not a gym business; it's a relationship business, and to build a relationship with people is the most important thing, and these are my friends, you know."

The Operational Panic Every Gym Owner Fears

Of course, running a 15-minute staggered model smoothly requires absolute visual clarity. If you rely purely on an old-school whiteboard and a coach trying to yell timings and station movements over the music, things get chaotic quickly. Trainers end up losing their voices, spending half the session acting like traffic cops and human stopwatches instead of actual coaches.

To run this model successfully, you need reliable digital screens guiding the room. And that brings us to the moment every gym owner dreads—a total technology meltdown.

Kaisa had been feeling the strain of an unstable TV setup for months, but as any busy operator knows, when you're running a non-stop show, it's hard to find the time to pause and overhaul your tech stack. Then, the universe forced her hand.

"I had a different system with videos that I wasn't even really excited about, and I kept saying to myself, I guess that the last few months before CloudFit, I really got to change this. I really got to change this, and I guess God heard me because the system went under, I didn't know what to do."

Suddenly, her previous video provider went completely out of business overnight. Her screens went dark, leaving her highly complex, fast-moving studio without the visual aids her coaches and members relied on.

"I honestly was like panicking as a gym owner. You want things to run. Really smooth. I'm maybe a little OCD about that, so I just was like, but I had faith. I was like, all right, I'm gonna make this work. It's gonna be great, and it was so easy."

In a fantastic show of industry camaraderie, Kaisa reached out to a trusted peer in the fitness space—Sam Tooley from Alpha Fit—who immediately gave her the answer she needed.

"I called him up, and he immediately told me CloudFit, and I was like, that's it. I didn't even ask or look for anything else, because I trust him."

Taking Control of the Brand

When you run a premium, fiercely independent brand like The Fit Shop, you don't want your in-gym technology to look generic or corporate. You want it to look, feel, and breathe like your community. CloudFit didn't just solve Kaisa’s operational panic; it gave her the tools to elevate her brand exactly the way she wanted.

What we love most about Kaisa's approach is how incredibly resourceful and hands-on she is. Because she lost access to all her previous video assets when her old software system crashed, she had to rebuild her visual database entirely from scratch. She didn't panic, and she didn't hire an expensive media production crew. She just pulled out her phone and got to work.

"I didn't have any database or videos when I lost my stuff. I didn't have any videos saved in an album on my phone... So with CloudFit, I created a new album on my phone, and I would just shoot 15-second videos and then just upload it into CloudFit. Upload easy, like 1, 2, 3, and I'm like, this is perfect. I have it on CloudFit. Then I have my hard copy."

For Kaisa, being able to showcase her own trainers and her own space on the digital screens was paramount to protecting the homegrown identity of The Fit Shop.

"I totally think like when you have your own space and your own brand, use your own people."

Empowering Coaches to Actually Coach

By deploying CloudFit via standard Apple TV devices—which Kaisa brilliantly described as "the easiest system. It's dummy proof. I am not techies"—she successfully automated the heavy logistical lifting on the gym floor.

When your digital display screens take over the repetitive tasks of tracking timers, showcasing proper form demonstrations, and guiding the 15-minute staggered station rotations, your trainers get their real jobs back.

They don't have to spend the hour screaming over loud music just to repeat instructions or demonstrate a basic boxing combination for the tenth time that morning. Instead, they can walk the floor freely. They can focus heavily on hands-on form corrections, offer regressions or progressions, and invest their real energy into building those crucial human relationships that keep members locked in for life.

The members noticed the massive upgrade in screen quality and layout fluidity immediately.

"When we had the new system, CloudFit come on, it was like, wow, wow. You upgraded, and I was like, 'Like I should have done in a while, you know.' But sometimes you're just running a show and you can't really stop."

Now, when Kaisa needs to adjust the floor programming or tweak a station mid-day to keep things fresh, she can do it instantly without breaking the flow of the room.

"It is so simple to use. It takes me no time. When I need to get a workout running up, boom, a change, boom. It's like it's perfect. It's easy. It's just super quick and simple and easy to change, fix, create... In this business, you got to do things quick sometimes. If something's not working, and I got to flip an exercise or change, you know, it just it's really good like that."

A Culture Worth Protecting

Running an independent fitness business is beautifully rewarding, but it is also incredibly busy and stressful. When platforms fail or the daily logistics get tangled, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by the operational noise.

But visiting spaces like The Fit Shop and witnessing the pure joy, sweat, and celebration in that open-air room is exactly why we do what we do at CloudFit.

Real business growth doesn't just mean chasing more numbers through the door. True, sustainable growth happens when you intentionally remove the operational friction around your product. When your technology is simple and reliable, your coaches can breathe, your members feel completely confident navigating the floor, and your original fitness vision can finally come to life exactly how you imagined it.

Kaisa built an iconic community in Miami because she had the courage to pioneer a flexible scheduling model that most traditional gyms would be far too intimidated to try. And when her systems threw her a curveball, she adapted, upgraded, and took total ownership of her brand. As Kaisa told us before we packed up our gear:

"Kaisa here from the Fit Shop. You guys got to get on Cloud Fit. At least try the 30-day free trial. Worth it. Get on it. It's so good... if anybody that owns a gym that needs to use a TV system for their gym, please don't go anywhere else but here."

If you ever find yourself soaking up the sun in South Florida, you absolutely have to drop into North Miami Beach and experience The Fit Shop for yourself. Take it from Kaisa—you're never late. Just walk right in, get ready to sweat, and lean into the shift.

And if you are a fitness business owner or studio director looking to streamline your daily programming, protect your coaches from burnout, and take back control of your in-gym branding, we would love to partner with you to help make it happen.
